Eligibility for Enrolment

Enrolling in a public school is a two step process. 

Step 1: Expression of Interest.

Expression of Interests can be filled out by:
1.         Parents, defined in the School Education Act 1999 as persons who at law have responsibility for the long term care, welfare and development of the child; or the day-to-day care, welfare      

          and development of the child;

2.         Independent minors; and

3.         Persons aged 18 years or older who may apply on their own behalf.

To lodge you EOI, drop into the front office with a copy of your child/ren’s birth certificate, Medicare AIR and proof of address.

Whilst enrolment requirements differ from school to school, Cooloongup Primary School has a designated geographical are from which Enrolments are taken. This is also know as Local-Intake. We may receive Non Local-Intake EOI but not necessarily accept and progress to enrolment, Step 2.

 

Please note: Families wanting to engage in the Specialised Learning Program for ASD – (Autism). This engagement is only available through the SLP ASD.  The Expression of Interest form, located at the bottom of this page.

Local Intake Area

Our school has a local-intake area, an eligible child whose place of residence is within that area is guaranteed enrolment in the compulsory years of schooling (Pre-primary to Year 6).

As Kindergarten is non-compulsory schooling once our classes have reached capacity children will be put onto a waitlist.

Enrolment

Our Enrolment process: fill out an Application form, available above. Once this Application has been accepted by our Principal or Deputy Principal, a brief interview will be arranged, where you will receive the Enrolment Pack.

The Enrolment Pack contains Information such as:

  • Information about your Occupation and Education
  • Consent Forms
  • Student Health Care and Wellbeing

Supporting documents may be required if your child has specialist medical requirements such as Allergies, Asthma etc or diagnosis paperwork. To ensure we cater for their needs adequately.

We also require any court documentation regarding the day to day care of your child if applicable.

Once all forms are completed your children’s Enrolment will be confirmed and a class allocated.

To apply for enrolment in the program, please fill out an Expression of Interest form and forward to the school via email or in person. The SLP does have a limited number of places and students are assessed on eligibility and suitability for the program.
