Homework provides students with opportunities to consolidate their classroom learning, develop autonomous learning skills, time management skills and a positive attitude to schooling.
Students will:
Regularly complete reading and set homework activities.
Record activities as required.
Demonstrate time management and self management by completing homework by the expected time.
Parents will:
Encourage their student to complete the requirements.
Sign homework record sheets/diary as appropriate.
Regularly discuss homework with their child.
Contact classroom teacher if and when required.
Lower Primary (Years 1 & 2) – 15 mins
Pencil case games.
Homework Grid or calendar of activities which includes Home Reading.
Middle Primary (Years 3, 4 & 5)- 15-20mins
Maths and language focus including Home Readers.
General research questions.
Life skills eg. Time, reading timetables, recipes, shopping lists etc.
Upper Primary (Years 6 & 7) – 20-30mins
Weekly Homework assignment.
Home Reading.
