Cooloongup Primary School is a Tribes school
All staff are trained in the Tribes process.
This process is designed to ensure that all children in the classroom feel safe, valued and included.
The goal of each teacher is to build a positive environment where all students actively participate in their learning and are successful.
Cooloongup Primary School uses the four Tribes agreements of
- Appreciations, no put – downs;
- Mutual respect;
- Attentive listening and
- The right to pass
in all classrooms and the playground.
Children are given skills to help them solve minor disputes in a way that is acceptable to all.
Each day the teacher starts the day with a community circle where all the students get a chance to greet each other and share something with the rest of the class.
During the day the teacher will group the children for different activities as the children work on projects and learn information.
At the end of the day there is usually a community circle where the children are able to reflect on the day’s learning.
